The
Mike Alesko Design Scholarship Committee proudly announces its third
annual recipient: Katrina Thomson! Katrina has won a scholarship
award to be used for tuition in the upcoming 2001-2002 academic
year.
At
the age of twenty, Katrina Thomson, a National Merit Scholar, graduated
from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
She is now looking forward to starting apparel design classes this
fall at Seattle Central Community College.
Having been an assistant manager/music buyer for a local record
shop and a sales/marketing intern at a weekly culture and arts publication,
Katrina has been an avid supporter of independent music for years.
This interest has inspired her to express her creativity through
writing and performing music, designing and sewing clothes, and
silk screening her own apparel. Katrina has also assisted in local
photo shoots as a stylist, designer, model and visionary.
In her community, Katrina helped start up a non-profit organization
for youth music and arts events and is currently planning a workshop
to share her skills in sewing and amateur fashion design at a festival
for young women.
Congratulations Katrina! We wish you much success in making your
dreams, ideas and designs come to life! |
