The
Mike Alesko Design Scholarship Fund is proud to announce its fifth
annual recipient: Mara Goldwyn.
Mara
graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Spanish Literature
and Latin American Studies. She also had the opportunity to study
at the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina and currently works
as an assistant in the Latin and the Caribbean Program at the Social
Science Research Council in New York. These opportunities as well
as Mara's extensive international travels have greatly enhanced
her cultural experiences and awareness.
Currently, Mara is enrolled in continuing education classes at Parsons
School of Design in New York. She plans to begin classes at the
Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York this fall.
Mara makes a point of immersing herself in projects that challenge
her design and technical abilities. She is more than willing to
apply herself towards mastering new concepts in any arena. For example,
one of Mara's colleagues had this to say: "If Mara were lost in
the forest, she would certainly emerge with a groundbreaking outfit
made entirely of twigs." We know Mara will go unimaginably far in
the fashion world.
We are pleased to award this year's Mike Alesko Design Scholarship
to Mara Goldwyn and wish her much success as she pursues her dreams
in the fashion industry. Congratulations Mara! |
