The Mike Alesko Design Scholarship Fund is proud to announce MEIELI
SAWYER as its sixth annual recipient!
Currently, Meieli is a sophomore on the Dean’s List at Syracuse
University in Syracuse, New York. She is pursuing a Bachelor of
Science Degree in Fashion Design, and has received the Founders’
Scholar Award for both school years.
Meieli has numerous internship and volunteer experiences, as well
as various interests and activities. For the past two years, Meieli
volunteers at Franklin Magnet School of the Arts, an inner city
school. In addition to providing the students with academic, emotional,
and social guidance, this year she also designed and created costumes
for their annual showcase event which includes almost 200 participants.
On campus, she is a copy editor and/or columnist for several Syracuse
University publications, and also belongs to the Fashion Association
of Design Students, Retail Association and Student Association.
Meieli has a part time job in addition to all of these activities,
and still amazingly maintains over a 3.9 GPA!
Congratulations Meieli Sawyer! We are very pleased to award this
year’s Mike Alesko Design Scholarship to Meieli and are excited
about how her talent, passion and dedication will lead her to her
dreams in the fashion world! |
